Before You Localize a Product Listing, Build a Product Facts Pack

A product can acquire several identities before it reaches a second market. The supplier calls it a desk organizer, the original listing describes a storage tray, and the translated copy presents it as a complete workstation. Meanwhile, a designer works from an older photograph. Each person may produce a plausible piece of content, yet the finished page can describe something different from the item being sold.

If your store prepares listings from scattered files, Orkas is worth considering as a workspace for bringing those materials together. It is an open-source, local-first desktop AI application. Commander coordinates specialist agents for research, analysis, writing and creative tasks, so a product research brief can feed the next writing task. You can connect supported model providers with your own API keys, which is useful when your team already has a preferred service for analysis or language work.

The following desk-organizer example is illustrative. It shows how a seller could prepare a product facts pack, turn it into localized content, and hand off a reviewable launch package.

Start with what the product actually contains

Choose one product version and one destination market. Gather the specification sheet, current listing, actual product photographs, packaging details and customer questions you are authorized to use. Give each source a date and version. A photograph of the larger variant should not quietly become a reference for the smaller one.

Ask Orkas to organize the material into a facts table. Useful columns include the fact, supporting source, applicable variant, unresolved question and person responsible for confirmation. For the organizer, these might cover dimensions, material, included pieces and the items it can hold.

Keep verified information separate from possible selling angles. A buyer asking whether the tray fits a particular laptop is a question to investigate. It does not establish compatibility. Likewise, a supplier’s photograph cannot confirm a load limit that is missing from the specifications.

The output of this stage is a usable reference for the next task. Anyone writing a title or preparing a graphic should be able to find the evidence behind the claim without searching through a chat history.

Research how buyers describe the problem

A literal translation can preserve individual words while missing how buyers understand the category. Provide Orkas with a small set of relevant public competitor pages and ask it to compare terminology, product explanations and unanswered questions. Keep the page URLs and access dates in the research notes.

For the organizer, one market may distinguish a document tray from a desktop shelf. That difference can guide the questions to ask and the language to review. It should not justify copying a competitor’s text or borrowing features from another product.

Customer comments can add another perspective. Group questions about fit, cleaning or assembly, then compare them with the facts table. The useful result is a short list of explanations the product page needs, together with the evidence available for each one.

This research can also inform product selection. If buyers repeatedly ask about an optional divider, record it as a sourcing question and investigate suitable suppliers. Treat it as a hypothesis until broader research and product checks support a decision.

Prepare language and visuals from the same brief

Now give Orkas the approved facts, target market, terminology notes and desired page sections. Ask for a title, a concise set of selling points and answers to the main buyer questions. Request the supporting fact beside each proposed change.

Listing localization means adapting the product page’s language, units and terminology to the intended buyers. It also involves deciding which explanations need more context. A dimensions conversion, for example, should preserve the original measurement and make rounding visible to the reviewer.

For the desk organizer, the content package might include a capacity explanation, an assembly note and labels for a dimensions diagram. A person familiar with the market can compare those drafts with the source material and check that the wording describes the actual product.

The approved brief can then support image, video and copy drafts through the tools and services configured and authorized in Orkas. Supply real product images when appearance matters. Review proposed visuals for the number of compartments, proportions, material and included accessories. A visually appealing extra shelf is still wrong if the product does not include it.

Hand over a launch package with clear decisions

A folder full of drafts is difficult to publish responsibly if nobody knows which version is approved. Ask Orkas to prepare a handoff document that connects the facts table, localized text, creative files and unresolved questions. Assign an owner and reviewer to each item.

Commander can help connect the specialist outputs around the same task. If the team uses other tools, prepare task descriptions for those systems and use direct integrations only where the actual tools and permissions support them. Keep preparation, approval and publication as separate statuses.

Once the team has completed a cycle, turn the steps it actually used into an operating SOP. Record which files to collect, who verifies measurements, who reviews market language and how final assets are named. That gives the next product launch a starting point while leaving room for its specific requirements.

Check whether this approach fits your team

Orkas is a practical option to consider when the work involves several source files and a sequence of research, writing and creative tasks. Open source gives the team access to the public code; a local desktop workspace provides a place to organize materials; supported own-provider access gives users a model choice.

Local-first does not mean all model requests run on the device. Relevant task information can be sent to an external model or service when you use it. Select the service and data scope accordingly. The core application is free, while model usage and optional services may cost extra.

Start with one product and one market. The first useful outcome is a facts pack and a set of content drafts that another person can check and continue working with.
